So much of our time spent here is trying to find the answers to the questions of belonging. No matter the season of life, we are on a constant quest to figure out just where we fit, where we’re needed, where we belong.

Where am I needed most?

How are my gifts best used?

Where should I serve?

Who should I spend time with?

Who is my clan, my family, my tribe?

Where do I belong?

These questions burn in us as life brings constant change and, with that, often pain. Loved ones die. Friends betray us. Who do I belong to? Job’s or ministry positions evolve and perhaps we out grow them. Where am I needed? We grow, mature, learn, and have our eyes opened. What are my gifts? We move locations and have to start over fresh and it’s terrifying. Where do I belong?

The truth is that the answer is simple and not. This is not our home. We were made for more. The questions will likely remain in our hearts until the day we fly away home. And then we’ll truly belong.

“For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our city in heaven, which is yet to come.”

Hebrews 13:14, NLT
