room planning for two littles

I’ve been brainstorming and pinning ideas for the kids room. Now that we’ll be adding a little girl to Mareto’s room some changes need to be made. We’ve been saying for a few months now that we need to make his room less “baby” and more “little boy.” So their room will be bright, gender neutral, and fun! I came up with a color palate that I love and shockingly it doesn’t involve re-painting the walls!

The walls will stay the pale blue/gray that they already are and the trim/window sills/doors will all stay white. I’m planning to sew some white drapes with a tiny orange border along the bottom for the 2 windows. The crib is white and we’ll get or build a white toddler bed for Mareto. The main “canvas” of the room will be very white and the pale blue/gray color. There will just be splashes of color here and there to brighten things up.

I am also planning to make quilts for their beds. Something like this but in the colors above…

I am on the search for a small dresser to fit in their closet. I have some chocolate bins that will go on the top shelf of their dresser to hold diapers, wipes, lotions, ect. I think this idea is the most brilliant thing ever…

I recently purchased a couple of 8×10 prints to matte and frame (in white frames) and I can’t wait for them to arrive…

And this last thing is on my wish list. It’s a little pricey but I love it oh so much. I may have to just keep dreaming. haha

Amy - Their room is going to look SO cute!! I bet you could make the map artwork. Have you seen the tutorial where you adhere a black & white (engineer) print to a piece of plywood? I’ve pinned one from Infarrantly Creative. It has a fancy scalloped edge, but the tutorial is good ~ & a rectangular shape would be much easier!
