So I totally take back what I said about being through the rough patch with Mareto and finally having some sleep. Not so much last night. He was up from 3am-6:45am and then back up again at 7:45am, 9am, and up for the day at 9:30am. Not fun. Praying for a loooooong nap today!
This morning I decided it was time to brush Mareto’s hair out. We have just done a once over with a horse hair brush every day for the last 9 months maybe. It doesn’t brush through his hair – just goes over the top after we put product in to blend all his strays. For some reason I decided it was time to actually comb it out and get all the mini dreds and tangles out of his hair. So I armed myself with a wide tooth comb, a spray bottle of water mixed with a little olive oil, and sat Mareto down in front of veggie tales with a lollipop.
It took me about an hour working in small sections. I had no idea what it would look like when I finished. John walked by and laughed at one point. The result is a totally adorable afro!!!
Here’s a pretty good before pic – tight curls fairly close to his head…

and here’s the after with all his sticky wet goo…

spray bottle … lollipop… it all tastes good to him!

cutest boy there ever was!!!!

And for any of you crazy people who are wondering – NO we are NOT cutting his hair anytime soon! He has the most adorable curls and I don’t mind taking the time to do his hair every day. We won’t be cutting it for YEARS — he’ll probably have to ask us for a hair cut. I can’t wait til his hair looks like this…
