Hi, I’m Lauren. Welcome to Traded Dreams!
I hope that you find this a warm and encouraging place to land. I’ve been writing here for about four years , sharing my heart and the journey God has set before me.
Why “Traded Dreams?” Because that’s what I’ve found life to (often) be about. I plan and dream and plan some more, but then God steps in and turns things all around and upside down with his own plans and dreams for my life. I’ve learned to embrace the story that God has written for me and not grieve over my plans that were never meant to be.
I have a heart for the hurting and long to offer some hope and encouragement. So I share a lot about my own story through infertility, loss, foster care, adoption, and parenting my special needs babies. It is my prayer that simply sharing what God has done in my life will give others the eyes to see the beautiful life God has planned for them as well.
I’m all about living out my faith in a practical day-to-day way. I’m on a constant quest to figure out exactly what that means for me as a ministry wife and stay at home mom. I have a deep desire to simplify my life so that I can spend more time loving and serving. I light up when I have the chance to talk about adoption and orphan care — two of my passions. I adore my husband and children and love them fiercely.
You can find me writing here regularly and I encourage you to browse through the menu items to find what you’re looking for. I am working on my first book about unmet expectations and discovering the beautiful story God is writing in your life. We’ll see where this leads. I am slowly beginning to accept invitations to speak, so if you see me at one of the events I hope you’ll come say hello!

Love your blog.
In your post you mentioned the Blue Ridge Mountains.
I just moved away from the mountains 6 months ago. Loved the little mountain town we lived in. Loved the mountain views. I miss that these days.
Blessings.
Kathy Craig - Hey Lauren!
I am an adoptive mama of a sweet boy from Ethiopia. My daughter and I are returning to ET this summer for a missions trip and are in the very beginning of our fundraising journey! I’ve started a blog that I haven’t publicized just yet. I came across your blog from millions of miles, and I love it!
I’m also a leader for Young Life, and I just want to create a new, fresh blog for fundraising and to share my ministry! I was wondering what other blogs you have designed? Do you work on blogspot? Do you think it’s best to buy a domain? I’m trying to spend as little as possible, but I want something I can use for awhile for a lot of purposes, if ya know what I mean!
I just thought I would ask for your expertise as I’m thinking about investing in this.
Thanks so much, Lauren!

Ashley Flores - Soooo…I’ve finally found some time to poke around your blog since you the day you droppd by mine through the Influence link-up! It’s so nice to “meet” you. I plan on hanging out here during my lunch break because you are totaly speaking my language…EATING CLEAN! I don’t speak it fluently, but I’m doing pretty well in this 101 class life is throwing at me, LOL. I’m loving your heart for God and I look forward to getting to know you more. You seem to have such an amazing heart for God and I am a huge advocate for adoption and volunteer with a local pro-life organization that finds adoptive parents for women considering abortion.
